Education at Frogmore Paper Mill

From the very beginning, the Apsley Paper Trail charity was formed to deliver education at Frogmore Paper Mill, education in its broadest sense and to anyone who would listen. Paper is part science, part engineering, part creativity, it links powerfully to print, packaging and design. Paper can be used to convey its own industrial revolution, world changing inventions and dazzling associates amongst the learned societies of Victorian Britain. Paper is a humble material that can be used to explain many possibilities and is versatile enough to take on many forms. Paper can be explored both historically as a future cutting edge material, resurging once more for its incredible sustainable and biodegradable properties.

Education at Frogmore is all things to all people.  We can deliver structured learning from basic primary materials science, to paper appreciation for the industry, creative courses for adults and leisure learning during a museum visit. We are proud of our long history in the endangered, artisan crafts of  papermaking, letterpress and bookbinding in which we continue to deliver courses. We offer drawing and painting courses too and we are absolutely passionate about paper!

We deliver it all within the unique setting of industrial heritage and enable our youngest visitors to get a sense of working industry, an opportunity rarely found elsewhere. They learn from tutors who pack in the learning with humour and fun. Specialist subjects are delivered by experts in their field.

Come and try it!
