What we need from you

We bring quite a heavy kit so a parking space is always much appreciated.
This is for the presentation which can be supplied on a memory stick or laptop. We can it send in advance if required by your school IT security.

We include early photographs from our archive collection. These can often be rather soft and lacking in contrast.  a good view if the screen is vital, therefore if appropriate, sitting n the floor works well.

Access to warm water for the vat is essential. We carry a thick pulp which needs diluting to ensure we can make sufficient sheets of paper.

Warm water makes it more pleasant for the children and softens the fibres.

A standard class table is perfect in height for the papermaking. It needs to be wide enough to accommodate a large tub with space to one side for A3 felts. water splashes are kept to a minimum but you might like to site this in a hard floor.

For the demo a similar table near to the screen is helpful to house a blender, smaller vat and A3 felts to the side.

The paper will be damp and require air drying. A drying rack or washing line near the vat makes transfer of the wet paper easy. It should only take a day in a warm classroom.

The vat will need emptying at the end of the session. Paper is fully bio-degradeable being just water and plant fibre, but it will block drains. A discreet space under a bush or tree outside is the best place to dispose of the leftover pulp. It will soon disappear.
