Specialist students

Ideal for specialist students of art, design, printing, publishing, archive studies and paper conservation. This enables those with a strong interest in paper to learn about paper in greater depth. Participants will be welcomed with tea and coffee and an introductory presentation covering the history of paper and its mechanisation. The group are then taken on a detailed tour and finally spend time at the hand vat with a papermaker, where they are able to make their own large sheets of paper ,which will be forwarded on to the group leader once dry.

The experience normally runs from 11am until 3pm.

Sessions are dependent on availability of the vat and groups may be split and on rotation for practical management of the day.

We can arrange buffet or fish and chip lunches. Letterpress can also be included. And you can finish the day off with a short boat trip. These activities will incur an extra charge – see our booking form.
