New dates coming soon. Bookbinding is back at Frogmore Paper Mill. You will be working in our temporary café space which is warm, bright and has access to tea, coffee and cake (please bring a packed lunch).
You will be taught by Doug Mitchell, book and paper conservator of The British Library. Doug now delivers bookbinding courses around the country and is expert in both archival restoration and creative bookmaking techniques, so you could not be in better hands.
For beginners the first project is a hard-case book, constructed from scratch, which will be used as a ‘get to know you’ session. Projects will last for a single or double session initially. Naturally this depends on the individual but this is the aim.
Each session will be £45 per learner, including most materials, bookable in advance. Sessions will be for 8 learners. Please bring a basic toolbox with pencil, scissors, ruler, a craft knife and apron with you. As you progress there may be specialist items you will need to purchase from the tutor.
Entry is via the pedestrian gate on the left hand-side of the larger Frogmore gates, directly opposite Durrant’s Hill Road car park, where there is ample parking. Head towards the ramp and you will find us inside.
