Talks Programme 2026
We are back with another season of locally focussed history talks with more than a passing link to paper. Informal talks with a fish and chip supper and fascinating speakers. See the line up below:

In April our collections officer, Rowena Haigh will be talking about her discoveries in’Dismal Solitudes of Torture’ : Children in the Paper Industry. The long held belief that children had to be aged ten before working in the local paper mills will quickly be dispelled. Mike will relay a number of intriguing tales concerning uses of paper. In Poles Apart, we will discover the little known Polish codebreakers of the local area. In September Rowena returns for a survey and interesting snippets from the John Dickinson and Company Magazine, Dickinson News. Finally in October Peter Balding our print expert, will reveal insights into the character and adventures of William Caxton.
Tickets are £18 which includes tea, coffee and a fish and chip supper. Tickets are available from our website – see the button at the top. All talks are held in the Tudor Room, Apsley Mills Cottage, Stationers Place, Apsley HP3 9RL, the white building opposite Apsley Station. There is ample parking but please register your car with staff on arrival. There is a flight of stairs to the Tudor Room so if this might be difficult form you please get in touch and we will see if we can help. visitors@frogmorepapermill.org.uk or 01442 234600.
