The inside of our Visitor Centre has been stripped. Only the bare bones remain. These too, are now carefully being demolished and there is a real sense of what The Apsley Paper Trail Trust has lost. This image highlights the vast area lost to the fire, not only the Heritage Lottery Funded Visitor Centre but the original beams of the pre-existing storage sheds of the 1880’s and 1904.

The Visitor Centre was our public space, a space for meeting, learning, activity and entertainment. We cannot invite our groups back until we have somewhere to host them. That will be a temporary space by Autumn and a permanent Visitor Centre some years hence.
