Restore the Steam Engine
PM2 is driven by a 1957 Ashworth & Parker steam engine. It is still in place and when working drove PM2. The steam engine and its gas supply and steam outlet pipework need a complete overhaul. As with PM2 we do not anticipate having to spend a great deal of money as all the bits are there and in reasonable condition, but all gaskets and valves and pipework will need to be checked and replaced, and of course we will need a new boiler or compressor to drive it. We think about £3000 to get started on the steam engine restoration. A boiler/steam generator or a large air compressor will set us back some £5000, which will include the necessary supply and output pipework and a full safety inspection to get our insurance ‘ticket’. So we are looking to raise £8000 for this project.
