Repair and Refurbish the Workshop Area
The building which currently houses bookbinding, is one of the oldest buildings on site. It has great wooden roof trusses and beams and currently houses the bookbinding and letterpress course areas. It has also become a bit of a dumping ground as it is one of the ‘dryer’ places in the mill, despite the roof gutters leaking badly. We’d like to fix the gutters and insulate the roof, put new roof windows in to let more light through and repurpose the building as a craft educational area where bookbinding, letterpress, hand papermaking and other related crafts can be demonstrated and taught to the public. We’d also like to extend the current archive room and create better and larger archiving and research room. The roof is the big expense, followed by insulation and heating/lighting. We think £50.000 will get us a long way.
