Reinstate the crane on the quay
Our quay was used for loading and unloading coal and paper from barges that travelled the Grand Union Canal to and from London and Birmingham. A large cast iron manual crane used to hang over the quay, but was removed in the past. We still have the crane and would like to restore and re-install it on the quay. It will involve cleaning and painting the crane, installing a new support beam on the quay, and then lifting and re-attaching the crane to it. Although we will never use it ‘in anger’, we will probably still need to get it inspected and signed off by the Health and Safety Executive. We are trying to raise £1500 for this project.
