We did it! Our archive has been moved from place to place within the mill and none of the locations were really up to the job. Wherever it is, it needs to be dry and heated, and of sufficient size for volunteers to operate and for researchers to do research in comfortable surroundings. In our final version of the 10-year development plan, it is planned to be in the current Forum room, but that cannot happen until very late in that project, so we need to find something for the next five years or so. The plan now is to extend the current room in bookbinding, doubling it is size and making it more fit-for-purpose. This project by its location will be included in the Bookbinding building refurbishment project, but we think we’ll need approx. £3000 for new bookshelves, display cabinets and research stations.
