Frogmore Paper Mill is open once more. The 2022 fire resulted in a long closure for the site with only outside events made possible. Now we are welcoming visitors back in for a Hard Hat Tour, so called not because you will be coming to a construction site, but because we have more to do. On a guided Hard Hat Tour you will get to see the remarkable restoration of the Fourdrinier No.2 Machine House where now all the pulleys and pressure dials up above are visible, thanks to the removal of unnecessary clutter. The older machine can be seen in all its glory, as can the beautiful restoration of the roof.
On a Hard Hat Tour you will get to learn all about the restoration, how paper is made, the story of paper from its very beginnings until mechanisation, stories of the great local character, inventor and industrialist, John Dickinson and the opportunity to make a small sheet of paper. You will see the new interpretation and commercial papermaking in action in No.4/5 machine house.
Come and see what it is all about. Hard Hat Tours are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11am and 2pm. Booking is essential. Tickets can be found via the Event Tickets button at the top of the home page. Included is a cup of tea or coffee and a cake!
