On Friday 6th September at 7pm, Michael Stanyon will be presenting, ‘The Arrival of the Railways in West Hertfordshire’. London to Birmingham, Apsley Station and the Croxley Paper Mill internal rail system. This is one for rail fans and local historians alike. Paper productivity and the large population of  workers created a demand for extra transportation.  The same stations serve the current expanding population well today. In addition, Croxley Paper Mill had its own railway, as you will discover at this presentation.  Mike Stanyon know much about it all, so do join us for an interesting talk with a fish and chip supper. We supply tea and coffee too! There is no drinks licence at this site.

All talks are held in the Tudor Room, Apsley Mill Cottage (the white building with the Basildon Bond clock, opposite Apsley Station), Stationers Place, Apsley, HP3 9RL. This is also a chance to see inside the former John Dickinson Company boardroom, which is preserved.  Parking is in the shared car park between the Papermill Pub and The Cottage. Car registrations need to be logged which can be done directly by our staff on the night.

Come and join us!
